Description

Celosia Sylphid, part of the Celosia argentea Plumosa Group, is prized for its vibrant, feathery plumes that emerge in a soft lime-green color, adding an exotic flair to any landscape. These plants are vigorous growers, producing long-lasting blooms that are excellent for fresh or dried arrangements. With strong stems and a vase life of 7-14 days, they're a favorite among florists. The foliage is green and complements the unusual flower color, making it a standout in mixed beds or as a focal point in containers. As an annual, it performs best in hot, dry conditions and is relatively drought-tolerant once established.

Transplanting Instructions

  1. Wait until after the last frost date in your area (soil temperature above 55°F) to transplant outdoors.
  2. Choose a location with full sun and well-drained soil. Amend heavy soils with compost to improve drainage.
  3. Dig a hole slightly larger than the 3" pot. Gently remove the plant from the pot, loosening the roots if necessary.
  4. Place the plant in the hole so the top of the root ball is level with the soil surface. Space plants 6-12 inches apart.
  5. Backfill with soil, firm gently, and water thoroughly to settle the roots.
  6. Water deeply but infrequently, allowing the top inch of soil to dry out between waterings. Mulch around the base to retain moisture and suppress weeds.
  7. Fertilize lightly with a balanced fertilizer every 4-6 weeks during the growing season.
